In an unexpected collaboration, Asphalt Legends has partnered with the International Motor Sports Association to bring a simplified take on endurance racing to the free-to-play arcade racer.
Starting today (15th September), the new game mode puts players behind the wheel of endurance racers including the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, Ferrari 499P Modificata, Mercedes-Benz C11 and McLaren 650S GT.
Asphalt’s take on endurance racing sees players race together in three-car teams alongside two AI teammates in Prototype or GT classes. Points are based on the total distance covered by the three cars rather than the finishing position, with bonus points awarded for clean driving without hitting rival cars or obstacles.
While the endurance events won’t last as long as the real-world events, race lengths will increase to three minutes, compared to standard Asphalt events that typically last around a minute or less. You also don’t have to worry about pit stop strategies or tyre degradation.
Completing the timed events will unlock several cars, including the Bugatti Centodieci, Koenigsegg Regera, Rimac Nevera R, Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, Koenigsegg Gemera and Koenigsegg One:1.
Asphalt Legends isn’t where you would expect to find official IMSA endurance racing, but the arcade racer’s popualrity should help expose the series to a wide audience.
As part of the new Sunset Speedway update, the number of credits in the Ultimate Legend Pass will also increase from 10 million to 20 million. Console players can also claim 20 tickets and rewards per day instead of eight, and the Ghost Slipstream multiplayer event returns.
