After a relatively quiet August, September is shaping up to be a packed month for driving and sim racing fans.
If you missed it, this month started with the sublime Super Woden: Rally Edge (currently Traxion’s highest-rated game of the year so far) being ported to consoles.
From a new arcade racer from Milestone to a raft of sim racing updates, here’s what you can expect from driving and sim racing games for the rest of September.
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush
Release date: 10th September
After three years, Milestone’s acclaimed Hot Wheels series returns this month with a new entry – but it’s not Unleashed 3. Instead, Infinite Rush takes the diecast car series in a new direction, with four miniature islands to explore packed with events, challenges and collectables. The result is a cross between Hot Wheels Unleashed, Forza Horizon and Burnout Paradise.
With its charming presentation and casual difficulty, Infinite Rush is aimed at younger players, but its fast-paced arcade racing is enjoyable for all ages.
NASCAR 26
Release date: 15th September (Gold Edition), 18th September (Standard Edition)
Now helmed by iRacing Studios, the official American stock car racing game series is back this month with NASCAR 26. Building on last year’s game, the sequel is set to feature overhauled tyre and braking physics, dynamic track surfaces with building rubber and the debut of the real-world championship’s ten-round Chase format.
Whether these improvements and additions warrant a full-priced sequel rather than a free patch update for NASCAR 25 remains to be seen, however.
MXGP 26
Release date: 28th September (Fox Holeshot Edition), 1st October (Standard Edition)
After a false start with the maligned MXGP 24, KT Racing and Nacon are hoping to redeem the official dirt bike series after taking a year off with MXGP 26. Switching to Unreal Engine, the visuals are a vast improvement compared to last year’s game based on KT Racing’s proprietary engine, and the revamped riding physics felt looser in our hands-on preview.
It promises to be a much-needed step forward for the series that has been stuck in the mud, but the lack of a traditional career mode outside of standard championships may hamper its longevity.
iRacing Season 4 2026
Release date: 9th September
It’s that time of year again when iRacing subscribers rejoice, because the next substantial Season update deploys today (9th September).
In terms of new cars, the main highlight in the latest build is the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH Hypercar, which has been in development for over a year. It will be joined by two Caterhams: the 420R and Academy.
Elsewhere, Road America, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Milwaukee Mile will be upgraded with new laser scans in the Season 4 2026 build, while Summit Point Raceway and Road Atlanta will receive some long-overdue visual enhancements.
Forza Horizon 6 British Automotive update (Series 5)
Release date: 10th September
Forza Horizon 6’s fifth series update rolls out this week, bringing a fresh batch of festival playlist challenges throughout the next month.
Featuring a British car theme, the latest series adds six new cars, including the first appearances of the Bentley Continental GT Speed, Ginetta G40 Junior and Vauxhall Astra VXR in a Forza Horizon game, alongside returning models.
It’s worth noting, however, that some of the additional prize cars were already in the game but reserved as Wheelspin rewards. Sneaky.
Elsewhere, the Shimanoyama Circuit will host a new tyre-smoking Drift Attack mode, which unlocks a custom ‘Forza Edition’ of the Jaguar XJ-S.
Assetto Corsa Rally 0.6 update
Release date: TBA
Assetto Corsa Rally continues to evolve since its surprise Early Access launch last year, with the upcoming 0.6 update expected to arrive “soon,” suggesting a September release.
As expected, the next update will add several new cars to the roster, including the Audi Quattro, Peugeot 206 WRC and Volkswagen Polo GTI R5. That’s not all, however.
Alongside the new cars, the update will feature a long-awaited photo mode for capturing hair-raising moments, as well as multiplayer private lobbies and custom liveries. Curiously, Milestone touts the addition of custom liveries as “first step towards modding support” – watch this space.
Le Mans Ultimate September update
Release date: Late September
In the wake of the divisive Joker system and the new netcode causing widespread issues and sparking complaints, the next Le Mans Ultimate update promises to be a course correction for the endurance racer.
Slated for “late September,” it will address a spate of “bugs, design issues and underlying issues” according to Motorsport Games. This will coincide with the release of a new DLC pack containing two US circuits following the success of the initial pack, which included Daytona and Laguna Seca.
