- FH6 still on track for a 2026 PS5 release
- Story confirmed in Playground Games’ latest dev blog
Playground Games’ latest Forza Horizon 6 dev blog revealed a whole host of new UK-themed cars thanks to the game’s upcoming British Automotive update.
Cars included in the latest Festival Playlist include the Bentley Continental GT Speed, 2019 Ginetta G40 Junior and 2006 Vauxhall Astra VXR, with a new mode, Drift Attack, also becoming a permanent fixture of the Japan-set open-world driving game.
However, the dev blog also confirmed some huge news for PlayStation 5 owners: FH6 is still on track for a 2026 release on Sony’s console.
“If you’re planning your trip to Discover Japan on PlayStation 5, stay tuned! Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year, and you can add the game to your Wishlist on the PlayStation Store to be notified of availability,” said an official statement.
Upon its PC and Xbox release, FH6 was slated to receive a PS5 port, but at an unspecified, later date in 2026. However, doubt surrounded this after new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma declared in a June interview with Bloomberg that ‘in order to be a platform, you must have exclusive content and services’.
A subsequent lack of updates on the matter only served to increase speculation that the FH6 port was shelved, but today’s announcement quelled those fears. With the release of Grand Theft Auto VI set to dominate the gaming universe in November, focus now switches to FH6’s PS5 release window.
Releasing the game before GTA VI probably makes the most sense in terms of maximising sales, which could mean an announcement is imminent, perhaps even before the Tokyo Games Show, 17th-21st September.
