Le Mans Ultimate is continuing on its path to stability, with news that a hotfix is expected to improve its netcode upon release, currently slated for Tuesday 15th September.
The update “will make an immediate improvement in the online performance for all players”, said publisher Motorsport Games.
“This one line of code should make a huge change in behaviour to the ‘netcode’ effect that some have described with phantom collision over the recent weeks.”
During a recent Version 1.4 update, it switched online systems from Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) to reliable UDP (RUDP), but witnessed widespread reports that racing close to rivals was resulting in odd collisions, sometimes resulting in collisions that weren’t the case in previous game versions.
Consequently, it reversed elements of the network changes within a month and confirmed test events for the underlying online multiplayer structure.
It has now also confirmed the dates of these “public open beta network tests”:
- w/c 14th September – Single Driver Weekly (Tues & Thurs) / 90 mins Le Mans / Hypercar, WEC LMP2, LMGT3
- 18th September – 08:00 UTC ONLY / Team Race / 6 Hours Silverstone / ELMS LMP2, LMP3, LMGT3
- 25th September – 08:00 UTC ONLY / Team Race / 12 Hours Le Mans / 62 Cars / Hypercar, WEC LMP2, LMGT3
Le Mans Ultimate-utilising events resume
Meanwhile, following recent patches and hotfixes, two major independent competitions that use Le Mans Ultimate are resuming.
Both Low Fuel Motorsport’s Pro Series and Virtual Motorsport Series’s Pro championship paused their activities mid-season following the embattled 1.4 update. However, both series will now continue. LFM restarted yesterday, 10th September while VMS recommences today, 11th September.
The next major update is expected at the end of this month, “wholly committed to tidying up”, while two more US tracks as DLC will be released.
