REG Simulations’ ode to Argentina’s racing scene has a new update.
PISTA Motorsport released into Steam Early Access over two years ago, and has seen a series of incremental content and feature updates since.
The latest, released yesterday, has added the new TN Clase 3 category, featuring modified versions of rather humdrum family saloons and hatchbacks. TN Clase 3 forms the top class of the Turismo Nacional championship package, which has been on the go in some form since 1961.
Vehicles include the Honda Civic, Ford Focus, and the venerable Volkswagen Vento, offering typical front-wheel-drive tin-top action.
Perhaps the most important upgrade for the sim is the addition of online multiplayer. Released initially as a ‘Trackdays’ mode, players can meet up for online practice sessions, including a server specifically for the Clase 3 cars.
REG plans to add more functionality to online mode in future, including scheduled races and leagues once early bugs have been ironed out.
The biggest issue for PISTA, however, is its player numbers. Despite setting a new concurrent record post-update, this still only represented 39 players, meaning the game will face an uphill battle in terms of populating servers.
