Gameloft has teamed up with IMSA to bring a different kind of racing to Asphalt Legends with the new IMSA Endurance Mode Spotlight. The event kicked off earlier this week and takes some of the ideas behind real-world endurance racing and works them into the quicker, arcade-style racing Asphalt players are used to.
Instead of simply trying to cross the finish line first, Endurance Mode is all about how much distance a team can cover while keeping mistakes to a minimum. Each race has three teams made up of three cars, with players joined by two AI-controlled teammates to recreate the three-driver setup commonly seen in endurance racing. The distance covered by all three cars is combined for the final score with the team that travels the farthest taking the win.
There are Prototype and GT cars to choose from, while clean driving also plays a bigger role than usual. Staying out of trouble and avoiding contact with other cars, barriers and the surrounding environment builds a bonus that continues to grow as long as the clean run stays intact. Races are longer as well, stretching to 180 seconds compared to the usual 30 to 90 seconds found in Asphalt Legends, giving players more time to settle into a run and making consistency a bigger part of the event.
The Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro is part of the event and serves as its featured car, with everyone getting an opportunity to take it for a spin. For players in the United States, there is an added incentive, as those who complete the first four event stages and register through the official Asphalt Legends IMSA Endurance Mode form will be eligible for a chance to win a VIP trip to the 24 Hours of Daytona.
Asphalt Legends is free to play on the App Store, Google Play, Microsoft Store, Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
