Popular Open-World Racing Game Just $5.99 on PlayStation Store

A popular open-world racing game from Electronic Arts is now available for under $6 on the PlayStation Store. PS4 owners can purchase the 2017 title tied to EA’s acclaimed racing franchise, Need for Speed, at a steep discount.

Need for Speed Payback is now available for $5.99 on the PlayStation Store. Available at a 70% discount, the deal is only offered for a limited period of time until September 24, 2026. Beyond that, the game will revert to its usual listing at $19.99.

The game is set in the open-world environment of Fortune Valley, inspired by Las Vegas. Players take control of three playable characters, Tyler, Mac, and Jess, each with a different set of racing skills. Together, they try to take down a corrupt cartel known as The House, which controls the city’s police, casinos, and criminals.

For the discounted price, players get the full base version of the game, including its entire campaign across Fortune Valley. The open-world environment allows players to explore highways, deserts, cities, and off-road areas, delivering a diverse range of driving events.

Players can compete in races, drift events, speed zones, long jumps, billboard smashes, and drag races. Tyler handles the street races and drag races; Mac takes care of drift events and off-road races. Meanwhile, Jess handles runner work. Players can also search for abandoned derelict cars spawned across the map and turn them into supercars.

The discount is only applicable to the standard version of the game, while the Deluxe edition is priced at $29.99 on the PS Store. This one includes a story mission pack, exclusive customizations, and a Platinum Car pack.

Released in 2017, the PS4 title currently has an average rating of 4.02 out of 5, based on more than 76000 ratings.
